About us

The international NGO "Labor and Health Social Initiatives" (LHSI) was founded in August 2002.

The organization implements technical assistance projects in all regions of Ukraine and cooperates with partners abroad in four main areas:

  • Social policy
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Protection of civil rights, including the right to decent work
  • Child & Youth Development

Vision

Improving the situation of the most vulnerable people and children in Ukraine, based on their needs and living situation.

Mission

To promote sustainable human development by evolving social services and expanding access to public health services for vulnerable categories of citizens in difficult life circumstances, ensuring child development, protecting the rights and empowering youth, and contribute gender equality for a better Future.

Priority areas of LHSI activities 2025-2027

Social policy:

  • Development of social services for vulnerable categories of citizens, including children, persons with disabilities, veterans, IDPs, survivors of violence;
  • development and implementation of evidence-based programmes for the prevention of socially negative phenomena in society, in particular in the field of labour;
  • provision of expert assistance to authorities, communities, institutions and organisations in creating regulatory and organisational mechanisms for the implementation of social policy;
  • promotion of innovations and capacity building in the field of social policy.

Public health:

  • Ensuring equal access to public health services for vulnerable groups, including at the community level, mobile teams and through digital tools;
  • support for early detection, treatment and follow-up of people with tuberculosis and other socially dangerous diseases, especially among most-at-risk groups;
  • analysis of international experience and implementation of prevention, information and rehabilitation programmes, promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Children and youth:

  • to safety, protection from violence, quality education, family upbringing, health care and participation in decision-making that affects them;Promote respect for the rights of children and young people, including the right
  • adapt international programmes and implement child development programmes through play, creativity and non-formal education as a means of cognition, psychosocial support and life skills;
  • facilitate partnerships and exchange of experience between non-governmental, youth and children's organisations from different countries to strengthen partnership.

Contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine:

  • Implement programmes of social support, integration, access to services, housing, employment and psychosocial support for IDPs, veterans and their families, war-affected groups from different regions of Ukraine, including those who have moved abroad
  • Develop and implement programmes for reintegration, mental health, vocational training and social support for war-affected groups.
  • Establish partnerships with international organisations and experts to attract, adapt and.

LHSI cooperates with a wide range of specialists and experts in the field of child and youth development, protection of children's rights, combating violence against children online, protection of labor rights of citizens, combating tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and other socially negative phenomena, implements models for the adaptation of socially maladjusted groups of the population, as well as develops social and medical services, introducing a human-centered approach based on respect for human rights.

Organization Code of Ethics and Policies

With the drafting and adoption of the Code of Ethics, LHSI aims to clearly explain the model of organizational responsibility that it pursues in the performance of its activities, in internal relations and in relations with the different stakeholders. This is in order to orient their own action and that of their collaborators according to a perspective of ethics and the prevention of illegal and irresponsible conduct. This document, approved by the Board of LHSI, declines the ethical principles that must guide the actions of the members, staff, service providers; it also establishes indications and commitments of behavior expected by the entire organization, by those who work there and by those who collaborate with it at a general level and in the different areas of intervention. These principles, indications and commitments of behavior are assumed to supplement the ethical constraints of the different professionalisms operating, the regulatory provisions in force and the contractual agreements established.
