Half-year results of the ‘You Should Know About Tuberculosis’ project

Over 6,400 people screened, 83 verified cases of TB

During the first six months of 2025, the team behind the ‘You Should Know About Tuberculosis’ project carried out extensive work in six regions of Ukraine — Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Lviv, and Chernivtsi Oblasts, as well as in Kyiv and Kharkiv. The aim of the project is to raise awareness, enable early detection and provide support to people who may be infected with tuberculosis.

Key results for January–June 2025:

  • 6,428 people underwent screening questionnaires for signs of tuberculosis.
  • 3,215 clients were referred to medical facilities for further examination.
  • 83 cases of tuberculosis, including MDR-TB (multidrug-resistant tuberculosis), were detected and verified.
  • 3,206 people received motivational certificates for undergoing diagnostics.
  • 61 clients received motivational certificates for starting treatment.

Particularly high TB detection rates were observed in the Lviv (45 cases) and Kharkiv (20 cases) regions, where the project actively worked with internally displaced persons, residents of shelters and temporary accommodation centres.

‘Thanks to the support of our partners and the active work of social workers and medical teams, we were able to detect dozens of cases of TB in the early stages. These are not just numbers — they are lives saved and a step towards overcoming the epidemic,’ commented the project coordinators.
