Stop TB 2024
24 March marks World Tuberculosis Day. The day was established by the World Health Organisation (WHO) 42 years ago, to mark the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Koch's bacillus. And since 1998, this day has been supported by the UN. The World Health Organisation (WHO) celebrates the discovery of the tuberculosis pathogen by German microbiologist Robert Koch. In 1905, he received the Nobel Prize.
Let's keep in mind three important points:
- TB is "omnivorous", so it can affect anyone
- Tuberculosis is curable, that is, with timely diagnosis and treatment, it can be eliminated
- the first step to detection is quite simple - to take a screening questionnaire, the results of which are used for medical examination if necessary.
And for the 8th year in a row, we continue to implement an effective algorithm of interaction between social and medical services to ensure unimpeded access to TB diagnosis and treatment for people from targeted vulnerable groups thanks to the support of the Alliance for Public Health!
