We are starting to support families in difficult life circumstance, in which children are prescribed preventive treatment for LTI
We are starting to a pilot model of social support for families in difficult life circumstance, in which children are prescribed preventive treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTI) within the LHSI project “You need to know about tuberculosis: active detection of tuberculosis among people”.
On April 27, LHSI held a working meeting with social workers from four regions to identify LTI among children and provide social support for preventive treatment of children with LTI from families in difficult life circumstance.
This is a new direction in the framework of the projects of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Ukraine, where the efforts of social and medical services will focus on identifying LTI among children from families in difficult life circumstance and helping such families.
At the meeting, the experts presented the clinical routes for diagnosing LTI and active tuberculosis of children developed within the framework of the project, discussed the developed innovative model of cooperation between social and medical services and the plan of social support for children with LTI. Social workers actively discussed approaches to motivational counseling of parents on the process of treatment of LTIs in children.
