In February 2024, LHSI specialists, while monitoring the activities of the project "You Should Know About Tuberculosis" in the Lviv region, planned joint efforts to improve the detection of tuberculosis among IDPs - residents of shelters and other temporary accommodation facilities. They attracted new partners - representatives of shelters for IDPs - to cooperate.
Already in April, the Lung Health Center provided two mobile medical X-ray diagnostic rooms for the examination of IDPs, specialists from the Lviv Regional Center for Social Services, who are involved in the implementation of the project "You Should Know About Tuberculosis" in the Lviv district, conducted a screening survey to determine the symptoms of tuberculosis among IDPs and, in case of a positive result, referred clients to a tuberculosis doctor who provided counseling and referred them for examination. This time, the campaign concerned internally displaced persons living in shelters for IDPs: the YaMariupol Center, the Tvoya Opora shelter, and the Department of the Center for Social and Psychological Assistance of the Lviv Regional Center for Social Services. After receiving the results, each IDP client also received an incentive in the form of a motivational certificate for the purchase of hygiene products or food products.
And at the end of May, social workers again visited the shelter for IDPs - the YaMariupol Center with a medical X-ray diagnostic room.
As a result, according to the results of the first four months of the year, the screening questionnaire in the Lviv region covered 1409 people who sought medical attention for diagnosis 639 persons, and motivational certificates were received 145 persons.
During this period, identified and verified 1 a case of tuberculosis (TB).
