In Sloviansk, a lonely elderly woman, Ms. G., whose home was completely destroyed by shelling and her property burned down, contacted the specialists of the social services center of the project "Live Without Limits II", implemented by the NGO "Social Initiatives for Occupational Safety and Health" (LHSI). The woman miraculously survived, but was confused and scared.
The psychologist immediately provided first psychological aid. And then used psychological assistance methods and measures to stabilize the psycho-emotional state - such techniques as "Grounding", "Breathing in a Square", "Palms", etc. The woman's psycho-emotional state was stabilized, and thanks to colleagues, she was able to solve financial and household problems and find temporary housing.
But the unexpected happened: Ms. G. was injured - a fractured femoral neck. The woman was taken to the hospital. Work continued. The woman was scared again and did not have the strength to face the challenges of fate. Specialists came to her aid. The psychologist worked to restore Ms. G.'s psycho-emotional state and helped her overcome panic attacks and psychosomatic manifestations.
Ms. G.'s current needs were also identified. Specialists assisted in providing humanitarian assistance (diapers, walkers, mattress, food). Then, specialists assisted in finding housing in a safer place and helped in registering the woman as an internally displaced person, and assisted in processing IDP payments.
For now, the woman has been evacuated, but specialists are not leaving Ms. G without help and attention.
The project "Live Without Limits II" is implemented in partnership with the Donetsk Regional Center for Social Services, the Kharkiv City Center for Social Services "Dovira" and the State Rehabilitation Institution "Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities "Podillia".
The project is implemented by the NGO "Social Initiatives for Occupational Safety and Health" with the support of UNDP within the framework of the project "Transformational Recovery for Human Safety in Ukraine" and with financial support from the Government of Japan.
