There are cities that breathe even when it seems that the very air has turned into silence. Kharkiv is one of them. And among this breathing are the voices of our social workers, who have been working on the project "You Should Know About Tuberculosis" since 2021 and helping victims of domestic violence.
It was in this center that the story of Serhiy began - an ordinary man who once lived in a dormitory, next to a woman who asked for help. She remembered him between breaths - and this memory became the beginning of his rescue.
Social workers found Serhiy, helped him get screened, and then a medical examination. The diagnosis was multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The treatment took a long time: the COVID pandemic, and later the full-scale invasion, did not stop either doctors or social workers, who even in the most difficult months personally delivered medicines to patients.
Today, Serhiy is healthy. The story of his recovery has become part of the common spirit of Kharkiv, a city that does not lose its humanity even in turbulent times.
Human life is a chain of breathing, in which each breath of one person becomes a chance for another.
