When Olena arrived in Kyiv from Nikopol, she had nowhere to go. Pregnant, exhausted, and scared, she refused medical care and avoided doctors.
It is the social worker of the project "You should know about tuberculosis" convinced her to get tested. The results revealed a severe form of tuberculosis and other dangerous diseases.
The birth was difficult, the baby could not be saved. But the doctors managed to save Olena's life. Today she is completing treatment and gradually regaining strength in a safe space.
This story is about pain and loss, but at the same time about how people can be there to help you get through the darkest moments.
